What We Do

  • We assist veteran, justice-involved and returning citizen adults committed to living in sobriety who are homeless due to a crisis such as housing cost burdens; residential instability; evictions and other forced moves; living with "family" or "friends" to share housing costs (doubling- up); overcrowding; living in substandard, poor quality housing; or living in neighborhoods that are unsafe. Note: We are not a shelter. Our residencies are smoke, alcohol and drug free living environments.

How Do We Do It?

  • We implement Rapid Re-Housing & Recovery Housing Approaches

  • Rapid Re-Housing is an "intervention", guided by a Housing First approach that is a critical part of a community’s "homeless crisis response system". Rapid re-housing rapidly connects families and individuals experiencing homelessness to permanent housing through a tailored package of assistance that may include the use of time-limited financial assistance and targeted supportive services.

  • Rapid Re-Housing programs help families and individuals living on the streets or in emergency shelters solve the practical and immediate challenges to obtaining permanent housing while reducing the amount of time they experience homelessness, avoiding a near-term return to homelessness, and linking to community resources that enable them to achieve housing stability in the long-term.

  • Rapid Re-Housing is an important component of a community’s response to homelessness. A fundamental goal of rapid rehousing is to reduce the amount of time a person is homeless. (source: HUD.gov / U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development)

Innovative Housing Ideas

  • We create conditions necessary for public and private partnership by reinvesting in distressed & non distressed neighborhoods, offering amenities and assets that support safety, good schools, and commercial activity, that are important to a families’ choice about their community.

  • We seek Restorative & Adaptive reuse of existing buildings for a purpose other than which it was originally built or designed for, as well as construction and maintenance of new and existing buildings to further our non-profit purpose.

What is Recovery Housing?

Recovery housing should be recovery-centered. For recovery housing to be recovery centered, the housing should embrace  "SAMHSA’s" definition of recovery.

SAMHSA has defined recovery as a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.

This includes addressing an individual’s medical, mental health, occupational, family, legal, and social needs, including safe and stable housing.
